Workplace Deviance Involving Cyber Technology

Cyber technology has made incredible advancements in the current year of 2024 especially when it comes to trying to run a corporation or business. Cyber technology simplifies everything increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of that business or corporation. However, there is a downside because not always is the best tool used for the right reasons or in the appropriate manner in which it is used for. Workplace deviance involving cyber technologies can have dramatic consequences not only to the one committing the deviance in the workplace but also to the company itself. Its also too easy to slip up and find yourself not using company cyber technologies as intended by playing computer games on company hardware, sending personal emails, online shopping, and sending unprofessional messages through an online chat tool that can be considered harassment. Those are some of the easiest of ways to fall into workplace deviance. There are a few more intentional and malicious ways cyber technologies can create a way for workplace deviance such as intentionally sharing company data with outsider companies who could potentially use it to their advantage and “DDOS-ing” your own companies network to intentionally sabotage. I think that is why within the cyber workforce accountability is needed and peer to peer monitoring must be enforced to avoid workplace deviancy.
