The Quest: Ravens Youth Football Clinic Campaign Proposal

Youth Football Clinic by Sarah Waters

For this project, I had the chance to work with Shamar Gray, who’s currently the Football Outreach Coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens — and also someone I went to undergrad with. It was really cool to reconnect through this assignment and see how far we’ve both come in our own careers and endeavors.

After talking with Shamar about what he does with youth football and community engagement, I decided to focus my campaign on promoting the Ravens Youth Football Clinic. He gave me great insight into how important it is to make events like this accessible, especially for kids who are new to the sport or might not feel like they fit the typical mold — like girls playing flag football or first-time players who just want to try it out.

We hopped on Zoom while I was building the presentation in Canva, and I shared my screen so he could follow along. It was helpful to get his input in real time — especially around how to position the messaging and make sure the tone felt right for the Ravens’ brand. I designed the slides in purple, gold, black, and white to keep it aligned with the team’s look, and I added photos of kids from previous clinics to give the campaign more life and energy. I didn’t want it to feel like just another flyer — I wanted people to see the heart behind it.

This project really made me think about how I can apply what we’ve learned in class to something real. And honestly, it was one of my favorite assignments because it gave me a chance to be creative while also building something that felt purposeful. I’m hoping to keep in touch with Shamar — and fingers crossed, maybe get my foot in the door with the league soon. To see the campaign proposal click on the link Youth Football Clinic above.
