Discussion Board: Ethical Considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing – March 9, 2025
The idea that malicious code being able to be coded into a strand of DNA is concerning. If it’s able to infect a computer then it opens a new area of cybersecurity threats. This includes buffer overflow attacks that execute arbitrary code because the conversion of ASCII A.T.G.C. DNA as stream bits of data falls out of the security’s expected parameters. With the digitization of DNA, it is being held in an organizational database with its use being unknown. If the critical DNA is compromised, it can be stolen and used by criminals or business dealers for any purpose. I find it very unethical that if we were to give up our DNA to be stored in databases, it would lead to privacy concerns and businesses using it as leverage for selling or discriminating against people for their genetic data. While I have a positive idea of new innovations of technology by digitizing life and DNA itself, I don’t approve of it being exploited by others for unethical reasons.
Discussion Board – The “Short Arm” of Predictive Knowledge – April 13, 2025
We should approach the development of cyber-policy and infrastructure with the intent of creating contingency measures against Cybersecurity threats. We have to create policies that could deter any threat that could be created in the future but also discover the new types of attacks swiftly. The short arm of predictive knowledge is important because it’s about creating policies that prepare a cyber system for the new types of attacks at a minute’s notice. This new information will, for example, update the firewalls and prevent new attack meth

Marketing and business should be regulated in terms of how intelligification tracks what data is being stored, who it can be shared by, and how it’s being marketed towards people based on what it does in society. With everything being intelligent, it would be dangerous to let these devices collect data and be given to the wrong hands. Regulating them will ensure businesses that all data will be protected under these new regulations of making sure only authorized users can be given the data provided.
When it comes to regulating groups, organizations that operate online platforms should require the platform to use content moderation policies to regulate what data is relied on to prevent bias, manipulation, and the spread of harmful digital information.
Individuals should be regulated by creating lawful policies that combat cybercrime involving the misuse and or abuse of intelligification. There should also be ethical design policies that allow the individual to interact with these intelligification devices with ethical consideration.
