For my writing project, I wrote about my first experience learning a language in High School, learning Spanish. I discuss in the essays, the struggles of not speaking to native speakers and really immersing myself in the culture/language.  This really has worked well for me in Japanese and it has allowed me to enjoy and learn the language much easier.
