CYSE 368 – Course Work

This page includes my internship coursework for CYSE 368: Internship in Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University. My internship was completed with Captivize LLC, where I worked with AI-driven automation systems, workflow troubleshooting, documentation, and technical support. Through this experience, I was able to connect cybersecurity concepts from the classroom to real business operations, especially in areas like system reliability, validation, automation, and risk-aware decision-making.

Below are my reflection papers and final paper, which document my growth throughout the internship.

Reflection Paper 1: First 50 Hours

This reflection covers the first 50 hours of my internship with Captivize LLC. In the beginning of the internship, I focused on learning the company’s AI-driven workflows, reviewing internal tools, and understanding how cybersecurity connects to automation, troubleshooting, and system reliability. This paper shows how my view of cybersecurity started expanding beyond traditional security tools and into real-world business systems.

Reflection Paper 2: First 100 Hours

This reflection discusses my progress after completing 100 hours of the internship. During this stage, I became more involved in troubleshooting automation workflows, reviewing system behavior, documenting technical issues, and thinking about how performance improvements can affect reliability and security. This paper shows my growth from observing workflows to actively contributing to technical problem-solving.

Reflection Paper 3: First 150 Hours

This reflection focuses on my experience after completing 150 hours of the internship. At this point, I had gained more confidence working with AI-driven automation systems and thinking critically about validation, logging, workflow design, and technical decision-making. This paper also reflects on how the internship helped me grow professionally through patience, communication, adaptability, and problem-solving.

Final Internship Paper

My final paper provides a complete overview of my internship experience with Captivize LLC. It explains why I chose the internship, the management environment, my major duties, how cybersecurity skills were applied, how ODU prepared me, and how the internship fulfilled my learning objectives. It also reflects on the most motivating, discouraging, and challenging parts of the experience, including adapting quickly, balancing school with the internship, and receiving a full-time offer after graduation.
