CYSE 368 Internship – Captivize (AI Model Development)

Overview

I am currently completing my CYSE 368 internship with Captivize, a company that builds AI automation solutions to help businesses streamline workflows and improve efficiency. My internship focuses on supporting AI model development and the workflows that turn AI into usable products.

This internship is ongoing, and I will continue updating this page as I complete more milestones and take on additional responsibilities.

About Captivize

Captivize provides AI automation solutions, including AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing Agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Agents, along with custom automations tailored to business needs.
One area Captivize emphasizes is AI Voice Agents, which are designed for natural voice interactions and improved customer support and operations.

What I’m Working On (High-Level)

Because some work is confidential, I describe my tasks at a high level. These statements reflect the type of work I support in an AI model development environment:

  • Supporting parts of the model development lifecycle (iteration, testing, and improvement)
  • Helping with data preparation and organization so model inputs are consistent and usable
  • Contributing to evaluation and quality checks to understand model behavior and performance
  • Assisting with documentation so experiments and changes are repeatable and traceable
  • Communicating progress, questions, and blockers clearly with the team

This work connects closely to Captivize’s products such as AI Voice Agents (built using speech and language capabilities) and RAG systems that combine retrieval with generative AI to produce more accurate responses.

Skills I’m Developing

This internship is helping me build skills that connect directly to cybersecurity and technical work:

Technical Skills

  • Understanding how AI systems are designed, tested, and improved through iteration
  • Learning how AI solutions are implemented for real business use cases

Critical Thinking

  • Reviewing results and asking “why” performance changes between versions
  • Checking assumptions and validating outputs before calling something “done”

Communication

  • Writing clear updates and documentation so others can follow the work
  • Explaining technical work in a way that fits a team environment

Professionalism

  • Managing tasks responsibly, meeting deadlines, and staying organized
  • Following confidentiality requirements while still showing meaningful progress

Reflection (What this experience is teaching me)

A key lesson I’m learning is that building AI models is not just “train a model and ship it.” It requires careful testing, clear documentation, and strong collaboration to produce reliable results. I value seeing how AI is applied to real business problems and how teams build systems that are meant to work consistently for users. This experience is strengthening my technical confidence and supporting my long-term goal of working in cybersecurity alongside emerging technologies like AI.

Ongoing Update Statement

This internship is ongoing. I will update this page as I complete additional work and gain more responsibility throughout the internship.
