It has helped me tremendously in the things I listed in Blog 1. I have tested multiple hypothesis’ with individuals and groups. Healthy debates in order to garner information for this course have happened which has produced results in blogs and modules. I do believe I have a good understanding of the motives on why we do things from this course. Being myself has led me to learning a lot from this course.

The top three things I have learned so far this semester are Emotional Intelligence (Blog 7), Women Exploitation (Blog 6), and The Type of Student I Want to Be (Blog 2). Blog 7 we had to take an EQ test and this taught me so much about myself. In blog 6, I knew that women were exploited in advertisements but there is such a larger spectrum to this than I initially thought. Blog 2 had me dig deep in myself to determine what I wanted as a student and set personal goals for myself.

Men can upset women by neglecting to remember the little things. The little things can be favorites, birthdays, products used daily, and even what was said prior to a verbal altercation. Women can upset men by not listening, not taking an interest in theirs, or being unsupportive. This, consequently interferes with the mating process for both sides.
These are the thoughts from my life as it pertained to this article.

The difference between self-regulation and emotional intelligence is very different but they go hand-in-hand nonetheless. Self-regulation is known as a series of self-started events (thinking, doing, processing feelings, etc.) that basically guide people to reach goals. Emotional intelligence is more so the ethical approach and determining what’s right and wrong for the well being of that individual. These are my results for my EQ test.

I have definitely noticed that women are exploited in ads. I have noticed that the speaker has used humor to get the audience to see her viewpoint and understand it better which is great. I feel as if in a lot of these older ads that they did not know what they were getting themselves into. Back in the day, people were not so self-loving to the point where a dollar amount can exploit their weight as an example, especially when she said 87% of women think they are overweight. A lot of the ads were definitely older nonetheless still hold merit in 2019. The manipulation of weight problems in women is easy to exploit by her logic (and I agree with) because the women seen happy are at a such weight that is obtainable only by “near starvation” as she stated. Very insightful video.

Picture A represents a credible source because it is sponsored and if you go to their profile across social media, they are verified. Picture B represents a non credible source by definition because it is more of a “word around the town is that x (the specific source) is doing y and z (the service or product the source provides), you should check it out!” This is not ideal, especially if you see it from a tweet or some type of anon account. Picture C is an attractive source simply because it has potential to be real and credible. Personal bias can easily influence someone about the decision to obtain the service or product from this source.

Overall, I did really well on this test! I received a 98 out of 100! I thought for sure that I would have done something lower. Passing with an A of course but near perfection? I was pleasantly surprised to see the mark. The way I study is after reading the powerpoint, I take the slides and put them in my notes and interact with them. As I scroll, I use my interactions to help me remember the material better.
Here is an excerpt of my notes as requested by my professor.
Yes, and why is this?

I believe that music and relationships go hand in hand. Most songs I hear today are talking about a relationship with someone or something. Whether it be a person, a strong desire for something, or even and in animate object, these are relationships between both parties. Between my friends and I, we do share the same type of music preference. Music is a very powerful “glue” for people because it is easily relatable. For the six songs that associate with people in my life, they can all be found on one album. The best albums are the ones that are dynamic and can be used in a situation like this because of its versatility. The album is Grateful by DJ Khaled.

The type of student I want to be is a successful one. I want to be the type of student that leaves their mark in good terms wherever they go. I have been at the bottom (almost flunking out; depression from Father dying from cancer) and now I realize that I need to cherish this moment and that is what my Father would have wanted. And besides, I put a lot of money into my education, I have to make it pay off.

I believe this class based on the course objectives in the syllabus will help me a number of ways in the future. I believe in having a free mind and spirit at all times. In order to do that, testing hypothesis about behavior of individuals and groups will be able to do that. With having a free mind and spirit often comes debate. In order for a healthy debate to occur, the origins of such must be known and in this class, we will have knowledge of that. The way we do things, why would we do them, how we can expect others to feel about the way we do them will all be intricate parts of this course that I am eager to learn about. In order for me to have success and this course, I will simply be myself. I find the way that I learned things that are of my interest (such as this class) I have great success when I ask questions, relate material to real life scenarios, and feeding off of other people’s opinions on the material we learned in this class.
When people in the same class think the same because they are both right in their perspective correlating to the material learned in class.
