I chose the Japanese culture and American culture to compare advertising. I was stunned to see how many similarities there were between the two cultures in advertising. The biggest difference between the two was Japanese culture uses animation and “flashiness” a lot more than we do in America. The biggest similarity between the two cultures in advertising is using sensible and attractive material to hook the viewer into purchasing the product or service.

Honestly, what I learned from the assignment is to go for it. Go for traveling abroad snd completing my degree. I signed up for it, hopefully I am permitted! Learning another culture is so intoxicating, even just hearing about it form a distance as we did in this assignment. I was hoping they had Japan as an option but I settled for another country instead.

The biggest takeaway from assignment two I came up with is that time and control are such an intricate part in society. Just a general college student will agree with the sentiment of time and control, controlling every waking moment of their life. Something is always due, something is always going on, something is always happening around us! The relevancy speaks for itself that time and control are are the top two currencies for a college student. Money is a very close 3 but nonetheless, a 3.

What I learn from the assignment is there are different ways to be culturally sensitive to a different culture. Some are good and some are bad. Regardless of what one may think is good or bad, the whole spectrum of cultural sensitivity from denial to integration gives a great idea on how people think about other cultures. This assignment has brought me to realize that I am adaptation on two different cultures based on my experience going to Japan. I am alive that situation and it led me to the conclusion of such. This assignment was personally relevant to me in that way as well. Thinking about all of the amazing times I had in Japan and my intent to go back to not ultimately live there but for a vacation, a long-term vacation!
