Hello Everyone!

Some of the ethical consideration that I identified from,”Hacking Humans: Protection Our DNA from Cyber-Criminals”,  are how humans are curious about their family generation. When people are doing the online DNA testing, they need to read the contract or terms and agreements before handing off their DNA. These companies know that people are not going to read through all of the information, they just get their consent by signing at the end of the page. Once they get their consent, they can do whatever they want with your DNA.

This leads to the next ethical consideration and that is Malicious Coding. One of our reading assignments required us to read, “Malicious code written into DNA infects the computer that reads it”. If you do not read the contract, or terms and agreement, they can send you DNA to a lab and see if it can be used to hack computers. They say that our social security numbers are high risk information, so is our DNA. Could you imagine that your DNA is responsible for the hacking of critical information? Once your DNA gets changed to zeros and ones, what if they start getting all of your information to make you the attacker?

This is the final consideration, which I think is the most important, Is labs testing your DNA for traits and diseases. Once they hand off your DNA to a third party company for testing, how will the law be able to save you? How will they recover your DNA from the third party company? How long will it take for them to find out the final destination of your DNA?

To put all of this together, you see that it started from a curious person using their DNA to find out their family history to becoming an innocent hack attacker whose DNA is being sent around the world. PLEASE READ THE TERMS AND AGREEMENTS OR CONTRACTS BEFORE SIGNING! Ask questions! This is your DNA! You are the only one that can protect it.
