Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Some products that helped my gain understanding of cultural perspectives is TalkAbroad. The site allows people to talk to other people that speak the language and one can learn more about the different cultures and such.
The site allows one to talk to other people about different subjects. In this way does it allow one to learn more about different cultures.
The value of, and importance of, engaging in my immediate community and the global community is that we and different cultures all have unique experiences. Additionally, there are a lot of different things one could learn from other people about many different things.
My experience and participation in these communities was interesting. I talked with some people during the TalkAbroad assignments, and those conversations were nice.
Some interpersonal oral/audio activities I did during this semester were the TalkAbroad assignments and the speaking portion of the final exam in which I talked back and forth with my speaking partner.
I think I have grown with each assignment. I think I have gotten better at navigating conversations when I have trouble understanding them by asking “Por favor repites?” and such. Something that was difficult for me understanding something said – I could understand the gist of the question but not what exactly what was being asked, and asked the speaker to repeat themselves. I think I exceled at the speaking part of the exam, or at least did pretty good, and suppose that might be due to studying.
I have completed a few presentation speaking activities during the semester. I have recorded myself reading my Powerpoint presentations on Zoom.
There were numerous presentations that I completed such as one about traditions, like Dias de las Muertos and about the different things that went into those days. Something I would do differently is spend some more time going over what I have written out.
Some interpretive listening activities I have completed this semester are listening to an influencer and listening to words and phrases for homework.
