During the Spring 2022 Spring Semester, I took a Business Spanish course. This course was designed to help students enhance their ability to function effectively in an increasingly important commercial language locally, in the United States, and abroad. This course improved my ability to conduct business in Spanish. It developed my language skills for business purposes in speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and translation/interpretation.
Throughout the semester, I participated in different activities such as discussion boards and interviews with classmates and Native Spanish speakers and wrote different compositions. The activities have helped me understand what it is like to deal with various companies, like management, banking and accounting, the modern business office, and human resources. In my homework assignments, I enhanced my geographical literacy and my cultural understanding of the Spanish-speaking world. As a result, I will be able to conduct business in Spanish later on in my career.
This class is beneficial to my future career in Technology because I can translate meetings for my employers. Or lead team meetings with people from various Spanish-speaking countries. While some words were difficult to comprehend, I believe that these difficulties have helped me understand how business is conducted in Spanish. I will be able to apply these skills to job interviews and future scenarios.
