Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture
The products in LingoHub helped me with understanding the culture. The activities we did helped as well with learning the vocabulary and understanding it and applying it to the activities about culture helped as well
LingroHub helped me because because they showed the culture of different countries and I compared to it to my own and was able to see what was different or similar and that helped me to remember the cultural differences better than I had before. Talk Abroad was helpful as well. I was able to talk to a Spanish speaker and understand what she was saying and she shared some cultural differences as well. I thought that everyone had big dinners and small lunches and breakfasts but she has big lunch and small dinners so that helped to broaden my perspective.
Engaging in Communities
It is important to engage in you community and the global economy because you helps you to understand different cultures. You can be knowledgeable about how others live, instead of just yourself and you family. You can be more open minded because of this communication by understand and accepting different cultures. I was able to communicate with a spanish speaker in a different country and she shared some cultural differences that i was not aware of. It helped me to understand that people who live in a different country to not the same as people in America. I also communicate with people in my community a lot. I have to communicate with many people in my community of a daily basis with my job and when i attend class.
Reflect on your experience and participation in these communities. Include artifacts such as photos, audio/video clips, etc.
Interpersonal Communication
The TalkAbroad was fun to do. It was interesting to have a conversation with someone only in spanish. I was surprised to find out that understood almost everything that my partners were saying. I was able to learn about their cultures as well. The activities on LingroHub were also very helpful with learning the materials that I had to know to be able to talk to my partners on the TalkAbroad.
Something that i found difficult telecollaborative conversations was coming up with enough questions to ask my partner. The first conversation I did not come up with enough, I had about 10 and i needed maybe 13. Something i think I excelled at was understanding my partners and being about to respond without difficulty. Something hat i learned was to come up with more than enough questions to ask my partners so i do not run out of materials. I
Presentational Speaking
I had to create videos discussing my family. I had to go into details on how they relate to be and who they are. I also had to make a dish and tell how to make in spanish.
I preferred the project where I had to make the dish compared to the dish where I had to talk about my family. It was fun to cook the food and teach someone how I make that dish. I like to cook so it was fun to do a project on something that I like to do. Something that challenged me about that project was getting the technology to work on the powerpoint and getting the recorded segments on the powerpoint. I was able to overcome this challenge. I excelled at making the dish and getting all the vocabulary in the video that I used. Something I would do differently would be making the powerpoint more visually pleasing to the viewers.
Presentational Writing
For this class I had to create flyers/ pamphlets for a sport and an illness. For the sports project i had to create a flyer that gives description of a tennis team tryouts. For the illness project I created a flyer about the flu with symptoms and recocmendations on how it should be treated.
I have grown with each assignment by being able to create these projects correctly with fewer errors than the projects in the beginning of the semester. it has become easier to create these projects with the material and websites that I use. It has become harder to come up with new ideas for projects that is different. I could create more colorful projects to make it more entertaining to view. I excel at getting all the required information on the page with few errors.
Interpretive Listening
I had to listen to people talk and pick the verb, food, activity, etc based on what was being said in spanish during each activity.
In this class I have had to listen to different recordings by different people. I had to listen to recording on family, food, illnesses, occupations and sports. Some challenges that I had while completing these assignments was figuring out what they were saying the first time listening. I over came this by listening to the recording multiple times. My take away from this was growing as a spanish speaker and being able to listen to the recording less as the semester went on. I grew with the activities in the same way. by being able to pick up what was being said without listing to the assignment recordings less.
( U9 Tarea: Vocab apilcar)
Interpretive Reading
I had to listen to things being said in spanish on lingrohub and describe the occupation, illness, food, family member, etc. based on what was said in the recording in spanish.
(Unit 6 tarer: Vocab apilcar)
Something that was challenging was realizing what was being said because sometimes the speaker would speak faster than i was used to. I over came this challenge by listening to the recording more than once. Something that I found interesting was how fast and accurate the speakers spoke. I have had growth with these activities by not having to listen to the recording as much.
