My sport industry professional is my cousin Ryan Archey, who plays basketball at North Carolina Central University. I picked him because I’ve watched him hoop since we were kids, and seeing him play in college still feels crazy in the best way. Ryan has always been the type to stay in the gym, stay focused, and let his game talk for him. In high school he earned First Team All‑County and All‑State, which showed how much work he put in and why NCCU wanted him. Now he deals with long practices, conditioning, film, travel, and classes all at the same time, and he told me it takes a lot of discipline to keep everything together. Getting him for this assignment was easy because I just texted him and he was okay with helping. He talked about early workouts, tough practices, and how important it is to stay locked in mentally and keep up with school. Hearing him explain the pressure and the grind made me realize how much goes into being a college athlete that people don’t see. His experience showed me how demanding the sports world is and how much commitment it takes to play at that level.
