Exploring Culture

Some things that helped me gain an understanding of cultural perspectives was already having the mindset that everyone is not the same. Some cultures do things one way while another does it another way. I learned that it is important to not judge other cultures for something they do that may be different but instead try to learn and understand why they do it that way.

Engaging in Communities

It is important to engage in your immediate community because it allows you to meet new people and learn new things from different people.

This semester I had the opportunity to have many conversations. I had a couple of conversations with my teacher, a classmate, and even a conversation with two people who live in Spanish speaking countries. This is a conversation between me and a lady from Columbia. The topic that we were discussing was our family. Going into this conversation I was very nervous because I did not know what to expect. Overall, I think that I did a great job.

Presentational Speaking

This is an example of my presentational speaking. This was one of my projects from this semester. The assignment was to talk about what we ate the day before. This assignment was not too hard for me but I did have a challenge with figuring out how to say everything that I had, in Spanish. I did not know some vocabulary because not all vocabulary was in our lesson plan. Next time, I would ask someone to translate the English food words into Spanish.

Presentational Writing

Span-Proyecto

This is an example of my presentational writing. This was another one of my projects. I made an infographic to encourage physical and mental well-being. I believe I did well on this assignment because I had a lot of suggestions. I think it strengthened my Spanish because I was able to use reflexive verbs.

Interpretive Listening

Throughout this semester I had to listen to videos and sounds to do my assignments. For example on Lingro learning there are videos for the lessons which go over everything that is needed to know for the module. I had to know how to understand what the videos were saying so that I could understand the module.

Interpretive Reading

An example of interpretive readings are the readings that were in our lessons I had to read in Lingro learning. I also had to read some articles for discussion boards.
