On the Social Media Disorder Scale I surprisingly scored fairly low on the disorder use. Given how I grew up with the development of social media and its rise within common culture i thought I would have more disordered behavior surrounding its use but what has actually occurred is over the years I have begun to use social media less and less. Social Media is not something which is either commonly used in my day-to-day life or really even thought of. While when I was younger, I certainly would have had disordered use around it. It is interesting to compare how my behavior would rate on the scale from my current self to the 16-year-old me back in 2011 using Facebook. The disordered behaviors hit a lot closer to home when I frame them in the context of my younger self. Much of my social life existed online at the time and I would very much have almost withdrawals from its use when noy engaged. Would also get anxiety being apart from it due to fearing being out of the loop with my friends and family. When times were more difficult, I would use it to escape and feel comforted within a different space. I think since social activity is linked to culture it makes complete sense that different patterns are found across the planet. It makes sense from the sociological point of view.
