Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society
In this course, I explored the relationship between technology and cybersecurity through an interdisciplinary lens. I examined how cybersecurity challenges intersect with various domains including business, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, and philosophy. This broad approach helped me understand that cybersecurity isn’t just a technical issue, but one that’s deeply connected to cultural values, legal frameworks, ethical considerations, and organizational priorities.
Through this experience, I gained a range of skills and insights. I learned to identify how cyber technologies can create new avenues for criminal behavior and how cultural perspectives shape cybersecurity practices and policies. I also developed a deeper understanding of the components and functions of cyber systems, and how these elements can lead to potential security vulnerabilities. Finally, I explored the personal side of cybercrime, analyzing its impact on individuals and how technology influences patterns of victimization.
