Cybersecurity and The Social Sciences
CYSE 201S is a class about the intersection of Cybersecurity and the field of Social Science. With this, in this class we do things like learn principles and concepts in Social Sciences like Empiricism, Objectivity, Psychology, Human Factors, etc. and how they apply to Cybersecurity specifically.

In my opinion, this class is both interesting and essential to me. Since Cybersecurity is a interdisciplinary field, understanding details like what makes it likely for a cyber-offender to act the way they do and what makes victims vulnerable really are important. Aspects and quirks of human behavior play a major role in how things happen in reality, and looking at Cybersecurity through a purely technical lens can lead someone to come to an incorrect and potentially harmful conclusion about something. An example of this is that an organization requiring their employees to change their passwords every two weeks seems very secure on paper, but in practice would lead to employees adopting poor password practices because they would find the policy of needing to make a new password so often frustrating.
