Task I
Writing:
A necessary tool
Assessments on progress
An art and a skill
Developing lasting affects
More than words on a paper
Minute steps add up
To achieve the communication goal
Tracking progress through writing
Lifts the burden of guessing
Facts are only understood when they clearly written
This is why an SLP always has a pen in their hand
Dear writing I don't hate you, but you aren't always easy. I put you off because I don't want to do you, but once I get into the groove you aren't so bad. The first SOAP note rough draft was the hardest and my worst writing, but with each one I wrote the easier it became. Writing - I used to be good at you in high school, but since college I've been out of practice. Thank you CSD 449W for knocking the rust off. I still have improvement to be made, but I'm better than when started.
Task II If I had to write about or describe how I write, I would say I prefer to write casually. I've never though my formal writing was very good. In fact, I don't think any of my writing is VERY good. I wish it was better but I'm so self conscious about my writing. I think there are probably better ways of phrasing things than the way I do. I don't think I always clearly get my point across. I am also not always sure what punctuation to use and tend to be wordy. I strive to be very articulate and compendious in my formal writing, the minimum effective dose. I say this because if I was an SLP I wouldn't want to read a very long and wordy SOAP note. I would rather it be short, clear, and to the point (but without skipping important details). One day I hope to have more confidence in my writing, but as for now practice makes perfect.

Task IV
Dear Problems Paper: I will never forget you because you were the first of your kind in my college career. I had not written a paper during class time since high school. In high school I took AP and dual enrollment classes and recall doing papers like that in class. I also remember doing SAT preparation and writing for an hour on the topic that was just given. I don't mind that type of writing. To me, its better than knowing you have to do a paper and procrastinating on it. This was you write in and hour and you are done. I feel like you also become better this way. You don't have as much time to fine tune the paper so it forces you to do the best you can in the amount of time. Over time, the more you write like that; the better you become. The teacher feedback is also very crucial for improvement.
Task V
Dear CSD 449W: You taught me how to take notes during a therapy session. You also taught me how to write more articulate and precise. You also taught me what to look for in a therapy session and what things were noteworthy. You helped further develop my writing skills and gave me more confidence in my writing ability, and for that I thank you. Now for me writing is a bit easier. It is still a difficult task but it no longer scares me as much. This class helped to knock some of my rust off get my writing juices flowing again.
