How has design thinking influenced a product I use?
Design thinking played a significant role in developing the apple Macintosh. In the 1970s, most computer usages required a trained specialist. These complex systems disabled the use of computers by many consumers across the United States due to their complex nature. Apple knew these issues and constantly pursued ways to deepen their understanding for how to make consumers love computers and feel an emotional connection with their products. This factor ensures that everyone who worked on the project was onboard at understanding their problem and customer. Their design was for simplicity. Although such a simplistic design took engineers time by develop a complex system underneath hidden away. From 1983 when The Board removed jobs from the CEO, Apple products began to resemble those produced by other companies. Their business tactics became very generic and rigid. Although they did not fail, they lacked the innovation and design thinking led by Steve Jobs. Following these events, Jobs would be brought back as CEO of Apple in 1997 in need of these missing elements. Jobs was not afraid to take chances and experiment with business practices. Additionally, Apple regained its ground with Jobs back on the scene. They focused on the improvements of a few products, ensuring customer satisfaction, and that manufacturers had clear lines of communication to make this possible.
