Walter Winget’s  Goal    Gain practical experience in Computer Cyber operations or information technology, as I continue working toward my Cyber Security Masters at Old Dominion University.

Experience

   ODU Class Completed ODU cyber course covering some Risk Management Framework (RMF), including password management and processes that companies need to establish successful risk management plans I have also taken a couple of different introduction networking and cybersecurity classes including cyberlaw and CYSE 495 Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program. I have some basic computer hardware experience as well for both servers and computers.

On top of cyber-related experience, I have experience with leadership and operating heavy machinery because of my Eagle Scout project and BSA on the leadership side of things I have been in charge of planning multiple week-long trips for groups of twenty or more people for sailing and camping.

High School Smithfield, graduated with 3.4 GPA, excelled in multiple basic cyber-related classes

Skills

  • Some experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic computer system operations
  • As a team member, I established a replicated network for Smithfield HS to compete in computer networking simulations without compromising the actual school network. 
  • Assisted in password administration and help desk operations during cyber classes at Smithfield HS
  • Assisted in reformatting computers for Smithfield HS
  • No obstacles to obtaining higher-level security clearance

Activities

  • Member of Cyber Patriots Team (club in HS) that participated in nationwide cyber simulation events.
  • Previous member of Boy Scouts America awarded the Order of Arrow before my Eagle Scout, and Eagle Scout in 2019. My project was to successfully move a 1950s Nike Missile and the launcher from Hampton, Va. to Nike Park, Carrollton, Va.
  • Previous Member of Sea Scouts, Ship 37, taking two-week long sailing excursions (Summer) both North up the Chesapeake and South into the North Carolina Sound. Duties include all tasks from navigation, basic seamanship, leadership, and planning factors for extended-duration activities.
  • Helped with 4-year restoration of turn of the Century house and Barn for Scouting facilities within Isle of Wight, Va.
  • Military vehicle restoration
  • Assisted in moving armor and artillery displays at War Museum, Newport News, Va.
