Intro to Game Design
In this class, I was able to get an understanding of how the game development process works something that I was interested in learning more about because I play games in my free time, and they do need some sort of cybersecurity to protect the companies and people that work and play different types of games. the work that I am presenting is my final reflection essay of the course and finial project.
I learned a lot in this class about different game engines and how development works this class also helped me to work in a group setting because we had to plan around designing a game.

Reflection essay
My original goal for this project was to make something that I personally have not really seen in the game industry before. Now there are games similar to this like Star Wars Squadrons. This game messes with the idea of a fighting space that uses every direction to engage the enemy in its space combat. However, none of the games that I have seen have implemented both sides of the game I am trying to make. The first-person shooter and the strategy game, there are one or two out there I’m sure, but I have not seen them. My overall goal was to make a unique experience that captivates the future and any future conflict that humanity might have in its adventures in space as a spacefaring civilization. Over my game development mainly in my head and with some help from some friends online in just conversation about how things would work and what might help my game succeed using this method to devise my game it helped me add many things and take away things that would help me develop my game. Some things that I had discussed with my buddies and inside my head just could not make it into the game in the time I had and the small team that is just me. The goals that I had originally tried to proceed with allowed me to further my experience with game engines and game development itself. One of my main goals was to make a game that people could replay a lot and not just one of the more linear-based games that are driven by the story. My game is going to be an open experience that would be very fleshed out. When making the game I did have to come to a middle ground in development because of all of the constraints design this game gave me. A hard goal I had to scrap was making the game as big as I wanted now. This does not mean that it won’t expand if I continue but that is to be seen. When making the paper version of the game I had to figure out the game and simplify it to make it playable. In doing this I had to get rid of most of the customization and smaller elements like that. This is because well it is a paper copy, and I have not chosen any models for this game. The game has a very simple side to it just using dice and so common courtesy between players. This allows you to play the game practically anywhere. To end the goals part of the essay in the development process for this game I had many goals that I discussed with myself and with some friends that I wanted to achieve but because of different factors whether as time, commitment, or lack of personal and knowledge it did not stop me from making a game at least a shell of a game.
Making a game has been a fun experience that has caused me to look at the games I play in a different way than the game design that the developers put into their games. The experience that I had in this whole design process was enjoyable and I learned a lot about the field of game design and the disciplines related to it. The knowledge that I have gained from this class made the experience worth the time. The ways that people design games are interesting and they are more innovative than I imagined. This includes the main thing that I did not know the game industry used and that is the paper version. Now I did know that people in the movie industry used this type of development for their movies. Something that was not fun in the development of my game was having to learn the new software. Now yes I did expect this because I had never worked with anything like this before but it was fun to learn about the engines and what they all had to offer in the realm of game development. Another thing that was not fun for me to do was actually having to come up with the systems and different types of XP and weapons and things of that nature to develop my game so that it could actually work in this process I had a lot of fun designing my game and having conversations with others to decide what my game should actually have in it and how it should work. I had many good experiences with this project and this project has broadened my horizons about the world of game design and the developers that work in the industry.
