Journal Entry (Module 10) CYSE 201S
How does the job role (Cybersecurity Analyst) relate to social science?
The first thing about the video I appreciated was how the speaker noted that companies will use different names for the same role. For instance, some companies may use IT Analyst, Security Analyst, Incident Response, etc… Also, just because 2 companies give the same title for a job, the roles may be entirely different as far as the functions you will perform.
Cybersecurity is a team sport. Analysts collaborate with IT personnel, incident responders, and even executives to identify threats, develop solutions, and implement security protocols. They share information, delegate tasks, and leverage each other’s expertise to achieve a common goal: robust organizational security. Effective communication is crucial for several reasons. Analysts need to translate technical jargon into clear, understandable terms for non-technical audiences like managers and executives. Cybersecurity isn’t just about technology – it’s about understanding how people interact with it. Analysts need to consider social engineering tactics attackers use to manipulate users.
