NICE Framework (Journal entry #1)

What is the NICE Framework ?

The NICE Cybersecurity framework is the cornerstone for expanding the size and capacity for the of the American workforce. It offers a standard definition of cybersecurity, a thorough list of cyber tasks, and the information, expertise, and skills necessary to do each work. These works consist of 7 high-level grouping categories with 33 specialty areas.

Which areas would you focus your career on?

I would like to focus my career in the “protect and defend” and “operate and maintain” areas. Specifically, I’d choose two positions from these areas. The first is a cyber defense analyst. Cyber defense analysts use a variety of cyber defense tools to analyze events in their environment to mitigate risks. Second, a system administrator. System administrators are responsible for setting up and maintaining the components of a system. These positions interest me because they seem to be more frontline than the others.

Which areas appeal to you the least?

The Oversee and Govern part of the framework is the least appealing. By definition, this area is more related to a supervisor than an actually worker. It is a leadership role for those who just want to manage the conduct of cybersecurity work.
