Week 6 – Journal Entry 6

The three fake websites I have found are, The Onion, DoNotLink and Factcheck. These three websites aren’t very reliable and are even meant to be satire, but not all people will get that at first. The Verge for example is a reliable news source and their articles have time and well-done research put into them. The Onion is satire and often exaggerates real events and puts lies into it for the laughs. For DoNotLink, it’s made to mislead and for the user to click on the link of their articles without any credible evidence. In contrast, Snopes is an established fact checking website that debunks meaningless rumors and is one of the top sites for correcting misinformation. Factcheck is another obvious website I found. The name itself being straight to the point means it could be 50/50. It could’ve been a fake or a certified one, and it’s a misleading one. This one is a reliable source but isn’t taken as seriously due to its limited scope of topics and bias when it comes to politics. BBC News, however, is a global news organization that keeps up with the times.
