This week we were informed on the gravity of the situation as it pertains to the availability of the CNC machine and waterjet. earlier, our team member Ryan was able to operate the waterjet machine and get some cutout examples in order to gain a greater level of familiarity in how to operate the water jet. the water jet has since become out of commission due to a water pump failure. the repair part has been ordered to the best of our knowledge, but we do not know when the repairs will be complete. additionally, the CNC has also fallen to a similar fate, and the replacement of some part of the machine has become necessary. just as the waterjet, the repair parts have been ordered but we do not know with absolute certainty when the repairs will be complete. this sequence of events has effectively stonewalled our ability to actually go forward with making the lattice cutouts for our member arms. if we cannot use the university to perform our cutouts, we will ither have to outsource it or modify our design. along the lines of stonewalling, we received our allocated budget from BCET recently, and we have been informed that the propellers we initially wanted were not sold by an approved vendor. we will have to find a new vendor that sells an equivalent product if we wish to stich with that diameter and profile combination.
