Article Review #1: “Cybersecurity Determinants in Iraq’s Digital Workplace: Attitude, Policy,
and Compliance Roles”
https://cybercrimejournal.com/menuscript/index.php/cybercrimejournal/article/view/184/66
Introduction
The study chosen shows how cybersecurity affects the shaping of the digital workplace in
different companies in Iraq. It shows the attitudes and many perspectives of their managers and
employees when it comes to the cybersecurity policies that have been put in place and how well
they comply with these measures.
Personal Concerns
There were marginalized groups that concerned me while reading. Being that this research is in
Iraq, there are many minorities that simply do not have access to proper education to implement
cybersecurity into their work lives. With that being said, these individuals may not fully
understand cybersecurity due to a lack of resources. Aside from access to resources, privacy and
security risks could be a concern as well. Minorities may not be as attentive to these risks, which
would lead to harm in the workplace.
Class Relation
Once going through the journal, it was realized that there were concepts that were obtained while
taking 201S. For example, there was a social science research method used, which was
conducting a survey. Additionally, a multi research method was used, meaning that a survey was
dispersed and it was a review of existing data. The third relationship in this case was how
important diversity is. In this case, organizational cybersecurity was discussed, and in a previous
lesson, it was stated that diversity promotes organizational growth in the cybersecurity world.
Lastly, there would be behavior and risk. This is when an individual’s behavior could make them
a victim of a cyberattack. So it was necessary for the employees and managers to react positively
to avoid this problem.
Hypothesis
After going through the text, there were multiple hypotheses that were determined before
carrying out the study. The professional stated that “the organizational cybersecurity
determinants significantly positively impact digital workplace performance (Nazem et al., 2023).
When I was analyzing it, it did, in fact, seem as though employees tend to have a positive
reaction when it comes to using cybersecurity because they know what could happen if there was
an attack. This could lead to the loss of sensitive information, which would ultimately affect the
company negatively.
Research Method and Data
The researcher decided that they would like to collect the data by using quantitative research. By
doing this, they gave the employees and managers a survey basically about the cybersecurity of the company, how well they comply with these policies, their attitudes, and their performance
overall in the digital workplace. The researchers looked at the answers to see if they agreed on
cybersecurity and if these ideas affected how the workplace worked.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this study shows how important employee attitudes, policy compliance, and digital
workplace performance are in Iraq. Also, it’s very crucial to have proactive cybersecurity
precautions in order to make sure the company is safely secured from any threats or possible
attacks. It also suggests other opportunities for further research into the complicated
characteristics of cybersecurity in other organizations.

Article Review #2 : During COVID-19, cybersecurity when working from home

Introduction:
As I read this article, I saw how research during COVID-19 shows the value and success of
cybersecurity measures from the perspective of at home workers. During COVID-19 many were
forcefully put through training to try to adopt and maintain good practices in cybersecurity.
My opinion:
Personally, I feel as though COVID-19 was overall not a good time. There were so many
closures and drastic changes that happened at such a fast pace. There were tons of workplaces
that turned into temporary at home organizations, while others were left without a job. When
talking about at home jobs, many people in cybersecurity have begun working from home.
Cybersecurity is very crucial for many organizations, so going remote could be very difficult for
the workers to adapt to. According to the research, it showed that there were poor cybersecurity
practices even before COVID. So it is very important to make sure the employees have the right
training to adapt to being at home and protect the organization from possible attacks.
Class Relation :
In Module 10, we talked about social themes that might arise. So, after many have had to adapt
to a new environment, the workers should have a hard work ethic. Cybersecurity takes lots of
dedication, given that cyber threats tend to evolve and increase, especially during COVID. With
that being said, it is very important that these workers stay focused at home to protect
themselves. A strong work ethic helps cybersecurity workers stay organized, set priorities, and
manage their time to meet deadlines and perform well.
Hypothesis :
The hypothesis of this research is that psychological and sociological factors influence
employees’ engagement in effective cybersecurity practices when working from home during
COVID-19. The researchers also wanted to find a better understanding of how emotions such as
stress, confidence, or motivation can affect how they perform with the change of doing
cybersecurity from home. The researchers say it’s really important to think about these things
when making rules about cybersecurity and teaching people how to stay safe online.
Research Method:
This study used interpretative phenomenological analysis. This basically looks at how people
make sense of their world and what that means to them (Whitty, Moustafa, & Grobler, 2024). To
conduct this research, they gathered 27 people from different age ranges (25-72) and occupations. Being that there was such a big gap in age, there were many experiences and
opinions on this change. Also, to be eligible for this study, you had to work in the office before
COVID but was moved to an at home worker and had to adapt quickly.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, when working remotely, there were extra measures that needed to be taken rather
than being in the office. There were many employees who began to stress over the different
changes and found it challenging to adapt to the new environment. Overall, I really enjoyed
reading this study on how people in my intended field adapt to certain situations.
