The most appealing areas that I would possibly work in would be investigating, protecting and defending, and overseeing and governing.Actually, finding cyber threats and preventing any attacks from happening has always been an interest of mine, so that would actually be my top option. This also ties into protecting and defending, which is why I would not mind working in that field as well. On the other hand, operating and maintaining would be a field that I would be least interested in. Personally, I would get bored with just providing support by troubleshooting and making sure maintenance is up to par.

There are many reasons why cybersecurity relates to the principles of science. The principles of science can help us understand the fundamentals and exposure of technology. To be more specific, we could apply the scientific method to analyze threats, develop secure systems, and create effective defense strategies. Also, both science and cybersecurity call for experimentation. They gather evidence, conduct experiments, and draw conclusions. Cybersecurity professionals tend to use simulations and experiments to identify weaknesses and test response plans for hackers. This follows the scientific approach to determining whether or not a hypothesis is valid. Cybersecurity is like using science to understand and protect our technology by testing, learning, and improving against potential threats.

Researchers could use Privacyrights.org about data breaches to analyze different things about computer security. They have the opportunity to look at how often data breaches occur and what information is stolen. Once this information is obtained, they could then figure out patterns and changes over time. Researchers can also use this source to see exactly where the data breaches occur, and this could help them see which places are better at cybersecurity than others. By doing this, they could help certain places that are facing challenges in keeping information confidential. Overall, this could help strengthen cybersecurity as a whole and defend.

Maslow’s theory sorts human’s needs into five levels, with the bottom level being physiological needs. I feel as though this level would be basic access to technology, including smartphones or computers for daily life. The next level of need would be safety needs, and this is where cybersecurity comes in because, as technology evolves, the need for safety becomes crucial. Belongingness and love need to follow right after, which is more of a social media platform that can form connections and relationships. Next would be esteem needs; technology could help people showcase achievements and seek validation to make them feel better about themselves. Lastly, there are self-actualization needs, which is where technology opens people up to multiple opportunities for self-improvement and personal development.

The number one motive would be “for money.” The foremost reason for many cybercrimes committed would be for monetary gains; this could include financial fraud or any phishing tactics. Secondly, it would be political. Many individuals partake in hacktivism, which is when “a person gains unauthorized access to files or networks to further political ends.”In these schemes, the target tends to be organizations with opposing beliefs. The third choice would be revenge. Many people seek revenge, such as cyberbullying, as a way to harm others. Even though this is not a financial loss, it could have a very emotional impact.Following revenge would be recognition. Many criminals carry out high-profile attacks to be recognized by others in the community. This motive would not be considered important because it is simply done for status.Next would be entertainment; many criminals engage in hacking just for the thrill and challenge of it, which does not make a lot of sense.Another motive that doesn’t make sense is “multiple reasons.” Some individuals could be motivated by financial gain or personal reasons, which makes it hard to point out a single motive.Lastly would be boredom; this makes the least sense to me; there is no reason behind the act, and it is not as important as the others.

There are many fake websites that are meant to imitate actual websites in order to get valuable information from users with one of which is www.bankofarnerica.com. This website is imitating www.bankofamerica.com, however the spelling is incorrect with the malicious site, which many might disregard and give up sensitive content. Another fake website is www.applestore-deals.com, which is imitating the official apple website,www.apple.com, but, they would display discounts that were too good to be true, which typically draws customers attention, but can end horribly if they get a hold of bank information. The last website is www.irs-tax-refund.gov , which is not the official IRS website,www.irs.gov. The fake website tend to ask for personal information or a payment for tax refunds.

The caption I chose for this would be “When you finally remember to enable two-factor authentication.” This meme shows how people play a big part in making cybersecurity better. When someone uses two-factor authentication, they’re doing something to make their accounts more secure. It shows that they understand how important it is to stay safe online.

For this image, I used the caption “When you try to explain the importance of strong passwords to your friends.”This meme shows someone explaining to a person using strong passwords. It’s about how we can help each other stay safe online by sharing information. When we explain why strong passwords are important, we’re helping our friends understand how to protect themselves better.

The media plays a huge role in the understanding of cybersecurity. It has the ability to educate and inform about the issue, and after watching this video, I have realized the various ways the media influences our views on cybersecurity. One of the most influential ways is through their portrayal of cyber threats. Movies and television shows often make it seem as though cyber threats are happening all the time and that we are in trouble. They also use words such as “viruses” or hackers,” but they don’t really emphasize more about the issue. This causes people to be worried about something that they might not experience.

After taking the social media disorder scale, I scored four out of nine. Honestly, I never realized the amount of time I spent using these platforms. The items on this scale made me realize how much society depends on social media and that it could cause problems, whether you know it or not. I feel as though there would be different patterns found across the world due to several factors. A factor would be the access to technology around the world. There are a lot of people who simply don’t have access to technology, which could impact their use of social media and the impact it has on them.

After reading this article, it basically states that social cybersecurity is about understanding and predicting how technology changes how people behave and what they think. This is important because technology lets people spread ideas quickly and change how others think, which can be used in wars and conflicts. This article basically shows how social cybersecurity is not the same as regular cybersecurity. Regular cybersecurity focuses on protecting computers and information. On the other hand, social cybersecurity influences others by using technology. With that being said, it is very important that the military understand social cybersecurity to protect themselves from these attacks.

Some social themes that I saw arise from this presentation were how important it is to work hard, get experience, keep learning, and improve technical skills in cybersecurity. It says that doing well in cybersecurity means you need to work hard. When getting into this field, it is good to get yourself out there through internships or even personal projects. Also, since technology is always evolving, it comes with changes in cybersecurity as well, which is why you should always be prepared to learn new things. It is also important that you keep improving your technical skills, like learning new programming languages or tools.

An economic theory that could relate to this letter could be game theory. This theory could help us understand why people make decisions in these situations, especially when competitors are involved. Another theory that could relate would be the market failure theory, which says that sometimes markets don’t work as well as we would like. When it comes to social science theories, social networks and diffusion of innovation theories can be related. The organization, its customers, and other stakeholders’ connections and interactions can be examined using social network theory. The diffusion of innovation theory explains how new ideas or technologies spread. In cybersecurity, it helps us understand how new security practices or tools are adopted.

The study looked at bug bounty schemes, in which independent security researchers identify and explain software flaws on behalf of businesses. These tools are crucial because they provide independent hackers with a means of income and assist organizations in identifying problems that they might otherwise overlook. The study found that hackers are not only motivated by money, but there are other factors that tie into it. The study also found that a company’s size and reputation don’t have a big impact on the number of bug reports they receive. After reading this study, it shows bug bounty programs can be helpful for all kinds of companies, not just big ones.

After reading this article, I saw five violations that I feel are more serious out of the eleven. One would be faking your identity online, because using fake information can be very dangerous for minors to go against the terms of use. Another serious violation would be bullying; this can really hurt others and could lead to bigger issues, including suicide. In addition, sharing passwords and addresses is also a serious violation because if this information is put in the wrong hands, it could be dangerous. Also, collecting information from children is something I also felt was serious, because I feel as though if you are not the parent or guardian, you should not have access to any of this. Lastly, use the internet for illegal searches, because this could eventually lead to harmful and illegal activities.
