TASK 1 AGENCY SELECTION

Summary:
What agency have you chosen to evaluate?

The agency I have chosen to evaluate is called Intercept Health or Intercept Youth Services. They offer a variety of services to those in need in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They have two bases of operations: one in Richmond and the other in Chesapeake. I will be interviewing the one in Chesapeake, which is closest to me.

How does this agency choice relate to your career interest?

I chose this agency because I wanted to see what types of human services facilities were available in the area near me. If I decide to pursue a career in human services, I think it would be best to have an awareness of the places I could refer clients to; the more agencies I know, the more clients have to choose from, which would allow them to make choices they feel is in their best interests. This agency is also for at risk youths; my goal after finishing my education is to be an art therapist, and I believe art therapy would be great for this population. I would like to know more about how agencies cater to the needs of younger clients.

After reviewing the data collected, Intercept Health’s Foster Care program was determined to have a positive correlation between the foster care staff’s efforts and the at-risk youths’ success in finding a suitable home. The Foster Care program also has safety measures and limitations put in place to ensure the wellbeing of both staff and clients.
