Hello and welcome to my E-portfolio, my name is Reema Chakma, a senior majoring in cybersecurity. I have a strong passion for technology and cybersecurity.
Currently, I am part of the IT desktop support team on campus, where I’m gaining hands-on experience by provide IT support to ODU staff and faculty. During my time at Old Dominion University, I have also done internship with City of Suffolk as a Cyber Risk Management Specialist, where I helped organization identifying and mitigating cyber vulnerabilities. My ultimate goal is to become cybersecurity analyst and help organizations strengthen their network and systems. Beside studying about cybersecurity, I also enjoy listening to podcasts about cybercrime, reading motivational books, and exploring the great outdoors through camping and hiking in the mountains.
Why Cybersecurity
My strong interest in cybersecurity sparked after listening to a podcast channel called Darknet Diaries, where they share real life stories about cybercrime across the world. Hearing those stories made me realize how vulnerable digital systems and networks can be, and how critical it is to protect them from evolving threats. Specifically, we must safeguard nation’ critical infrastructure like water treatment facilities, power grids, and other essential systems that people rely on every day. A single cyberattack on these systems can have serious consequences.
I believe that cybersecurity is a collective effort, and everyone has a role to play in helping create a safer digital environment. I want to be part of that effort by contributing to the protection of organizations, systems, and communities.
