Watch the video, and answer the following questions:

Does this constitute war? Discuss both sides of the argument and the ethical, political and business ramifications of calling it cyberwar.

No, this is not cyber warfare.

Let’s face the facts, folks: if you were able to be swayed by that post at face-value, chances are you also bought the ‘wonder cure’ the snake-oil salesman was peddling. This is America, land of free speech. That post didn’t make any threats, it didn’t call for rallies and burning crosses in front yards. Warfare isn’t something that can go unnoticed. Warfare is disruptive, and malicious. Only those who fall for everything would fall for this. If you don’t believe it and it bothers you, ignore it. One should always make their own decisions and think for themselves. If they can’t even do that….should they even be voting in the first place?

Yes, this is cyber warfare.

More specifically, it is a type of information warfare. It uses propaganda and misinformation to sway the outcomes of the US election for the presidency. It is very dangerous, very effective, and we are/have been under attack.

Ramifications:

Ethical- It’s unethical to psychologically play mind games with human beings, especially when their own welfare is on the line. Also, if the person was elected unfairly, should that constitute a revote?

Political- Who do we trust? If the government leader was elected by a foreign entity, and other officials were elected by them, who has our interests at heart? Our nation’s very backbone could crumble, and then we have no one reliable to turn to in a time of great need.

Business- New legislature could be passed not law that completely disrupts the economy. As a capitalistic nation, what better way to destroy our livelihood than getting the economy to fail.
