On the Ground

To bring the Blue Line to life, we sought methods to delineate the GIS modeled future high tides on the ground. A variety of tools were available, including blue spraychalk or water-based paint, chalk marks, blue flags, and blue tape that could be string along the high tide shorelines.

The student team will markup the future high tides in the days ahead of the King Tide on Sunday, 9am, October 27th, 2019. The public is welcome to come out and see the blue lines at the open spaces at ODU Sailing Center, Cambridge Crescent in Larchmont, and The Hague next to Chrysler Museum on Sunday. This will allow you to see today’s highest high tide vis-a-vis the future high tides with sea level rise. Students and faculty will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with any visitors.

WVEC 13 TV covered aspects of the mapping in the field and on the ground.
