Course Overview and Reflection

Artifact: CYSE 201S Career Paper

CYSE 201S introduced me to the relationship between cybersecurity, society, and human behavior. During the Spring 2025 semester, I completed assignments that required me to analyze cybersecurity topics, evaluate research, and communicate technical ideas in writing. The course helped me understand that cybersecurity is not only about technology, but also about how people, laws, organizations, and society affect security.

One of the most valuable parts of this course was learning how to examine cybersecurity issues from different perspectives. Through assignments such as my Career Paper and Article Reviews, I strengthened my critical-thinking and technical communication skills. These experiences helped me become more confident when researching cybersecurity topics and explaining their importance to both technical and non-technical audiences. I know these skills will be useful in my cybersecurity career when writing reports, analyzing threats, and communicating security concerns to program managers and clients.

One challenge I faced in this course was learning how to connect technical cybersecurity concepts with social engineering and human factors. This required me to look beyond the technical side of security and consider how people, laws, and organizations can influence cybersecurity risks. Through this experience, I learned that human factors play a major role in cybersecurity and can be just as important as technical defenses.
