I learned from assignment number two that Americans have values. In all honesty, I never viewed America to have a culture or set of values. The United States is a melting pot to all other cultures and we take pieces of each and create our own. I never viewed us as having a rhythmic culture like other countries. After reading the article paired with the assignment, it began to make sense to me. Most of our values are behaviors that we partake in and the thirteen values included were accurate. The assignment was relevant to me because I am a born and raised American. Some of the values listed in the article I identify with. One of these values is directness, openness and honesty. This value describes Americans as being brutally honest and direct when it comes to delivering information. I see myself as a blunt person and very rarely do I choose to beat around the bush with someone. I feel that being direct saves time and energy that should be put into reflecting or solving the issue at hand.
