Top Artifact #5

Module 9 Artifact

I learned from this assignment that stereotypes are socialized into our brains. As children we are told what toys to play with, what clothes to wear, what colors to wear, and what is considered to be feminine and masculine. We are taught to stay in our designated roles assigned to us by society. When we choose not to stay in our roles we are shamed and treated as outcasts until we submit. I learned during this exercise that my brain has an automatic setting for what it believes to be a female or male profession. Even though I know that every gender can work the same job.
