My name is Scott Joy. I am writing to you on behalf of Elections onAir, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization based in Virginia. Elections onAir is developing a Virginia Elections Hub to be launched in late August.

Our vision for the Virginia Elections Hub is to create an easy to use online place where interested citizens can go for current information about Virginia city, county, state, and federal elections as well as interact with candidates and elected officials… to facilitate and inspire  a more engaged public and responsive government while encouraging more Virginians to run for office at all levels of government.

This Hub will provide:

  • A comprehensive, open access, online platform with curated information about elections such as district boundaries, candidate information, hot issues, recorded debates, how to vote, and how to run for office as well as information on existing offices and officials;

  • Open, civil, moderated online forums with live streamed and asynchronous discussions and Q & A sessions on election-related issues; and

  • An opportunity for students supervised by their faculty and for engaged citizens to create virtual town squares through their curation and moderation efforts

We are seeking student interns this fall to be Curators of Hub Posts. See attached document for more details.

We would appreciate it if you would alert your students to this opportunity. If you have any questions or feedback about the Hub, feel free to get back to me. I am also available for a phone walk-through of the Hub and discussion of the Hub’s goals, methodologies, and implementation plans Virginia in 2019 and for the other 49 states.

All the best,
Scott 🙂
