Join us! – Undergraduate Students

Position Description

Undergraduate students working as research assistants (RAs) in the Hawn TRAC Lab have the opportunity to become involved in a variety of research-related activities. RA duties will likely include: participating in weekly lab meetings, conducting literature reviews, entering and managing data, recruiting study participants, and collecting data. Opportunities for more advanced research and clinical experiences will increase as RAs gain more experience in the lab. For example, experienced RAs will have the opportunity to observe clinical interviews, assist with manuscripts and conference presentations, and take the lead on their own research projects (with the mentorship of Dr. Hawn). We aim to ensure that RAs gain exposure to numerous, diverse experiences that span the phases of clinical research; however, the specific duties will vary in a given semester depending on project needs at the time.

Requirements

We seek highly motivated, conscientious individuals who are interested in gaining experience in traumatic stress and biologically-informed clinical psychological research!  A minimum of a 2-semester commitment is required, and a minimum of 8 hours per week is preferred. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred. Freshman, sophomore, and junior students are highly encouraged to apply!

There are opportunities for RAs to join as volunteers, 3-credit course at ODU, or a 0-credit internship at ODU.
