Designing and submitting entries into an ePortfolio about observations and experiences is something new to me; I believe it has been a great tool for tracking my writing progression and provides a quick way to refer to all material that I’ve covered this semester. Typically, I am not one to be analytical of my own work, but creating the ePortfolio has allowed me to take a step back and reflect upon my writing growth.

One example of a reflection that helped me was when I completed Journal Number One. This journal entry allowed me to reflect about my strengths and weaknesses. While completing this assignment, I realized that I had many faults in how I wrote essays, especially with structure; however, I didn’t allow myself to get too hung up on my weaknesses. The assignment also had me consider what parts of my first essay were strong, which helped build my confidence for the next assignment.

Following the first journal entry, I was assigned another ePortfolio journal assignment. This happened while I had received feedback pertaining to my midterm essay. In my opinion, this part of the ePortfolio was a crucial assignment. It allowed me to reflect on the midterm feedback and compare it to the advice I received on my initial Writing Placement Test. The reflection helped build up my confidence; I could openly express the feelings through the ePortfolio journal entry and realize my potential to become a stronger writer.

As previously stated, the ePortfolio has been a great instrument in tracking my writing growth and mapping out my strengths along the way throughout this course. The ePortfolio experience can be a tool that I can use in future courses to help keep track of how well I am doing in certain parts of my classes, and allow me to reflect on how much I have learned each semester.
