There are key points during this semester that have helped my writings evolve from horrible disasters to better polished pieces of work. UNIV 150 has presented tools and exercises at the beginning of the semester that helped point out deficits and critical faults in my writing. My writing style has undergone a great journey over the past five weeks; this has helped me progress from a high school writer to a better prepared college student, equipping me with the tools needed to tackle courses I will be exposed to over my college career. UNIV 150 has been a course that has helped me grow as a writer, prepared me for the college transition and allowed me to progress in my degree program.

Due to my initial Writing Placement Test score, I had to sign up for UNIV 150. My score was significantly low and so was my self-esteem when it came to doing any type of assignment that required a lengthy and well organized response. When I originally took the Writing Placement Test, I knew that I wasn’t stellar, but I didn’t think that I would be at the lowest point of the evaluation scale. Thankfully, UNIV 150 has helped me to turn that around. Taking the mid-term helped bring my confidence back up; it showed me that all the effort and work put in during the first half of the semester was worth it. My overall grade went from being lamentable to receiving satisfactory marks.

After reading the feedback on my Midterm, it dawned on me that not only was my writing improving in UNIV 150, but also how my documents at work, emails and other college writing assignments have become better structured and thought out. Learning that there are different ways to study/complete each assignment, I have been able to free up a lot more time in my weekly schedule to work on my college studies at a leisurely pace with a better understanding.

In weeks thirteen to sixteen, I plan to achieve success by reverting back to feedback provided from previous assignments, continuing to focus on sentence structure and adapting to new forms of texts to further develop my skills. My plan for the final exam will be to encompass everything UNIV 150 has taught me, and seek feedback from my peers and tutor to ensure I continue on the right path to success.
