Communications and Public Speaking

The artifacts in this section are the communication and public speaking skills I developed through coursework focused on audience engagement, persuasion, and multimodal expression. These artifacts demonstrate my ability to organize ideas and present them clearly, speaking with confidence.

Communication (111R) – Persuasive speech Public Speaking

I selected a couple of my artifacts from my public speaking class because of the growth I achieved throughout the semester through various presentations, this one was the final presentation for the class. Although I am very good at communicating one-on-one, I get extremely nervous when presenting to large groups of strangers. I learned how to structure an argument that is both evidence-based and engaging to the audience. The public speaking assignments challenged me to practice my vocal variety, pacing, and the use of body language purposefully. This class helped me gain confidence in presenting to crowds and conveying messages that influence listeners through research.

Communication (111R) – Public Speaking Podcast

Public speaking and the persuasive speech artifacts share the same research foundation, but creating the podcast allowed me to apply the information in a different style. Unlike a live speech, the podcast format relies heavily on voice, clarity, and conversation flow to keep the audience engaged. The goal of this assignment was to provide the listener with factual information on the subject without incorporating your personal perspective. This experience allowed me to adapt my communication style on the same topic for different purposes.

English (211C) – Multimodal Assignment and Research Notes

The multimodal project was selected as an artifact because it challenged me to combine research, writing, and digital design into a single cohesive piece. Allowing me to further expand my knowledge on translating academic research into accessible visual content. The research notes at the bottom reflect my ability to evaluate sources, organize information, and plan ahead strategically before creating the final project.
