Research and Analysis

The artifacts in this section reflect my growth as a researcher and analytical thinker. Although research and analysis can be time-consuming and often require patience, I have learned to appreciate the process of gathering information, organizing ideas, and building arguments supported by credible evidence. Seeing everything come together at the end of the project is always rewarding, especially when I can use my work to inform others about topics, I’m passionate about.

English (211C) – “Invisible Wounds: The Psychological Impact of Endometriosis

This artifact paper represents my process of developing an informed, research‑based argument about a question that matters to me. Rather than simply reporting information, I use research to think critically, evaluate different perspectives, and craft a position that emerges from evidence, analysis, and reflection on personal experiences. This paper demonstrates my agency as a writer: I analyzed the available research, considered multiple possibilities, and ultimately presented the answer I find most convincing. By doing this work, I show how ideas are constructed, challenged, and refined, and how researched writing allows us to participate in that larger conversation with clarity and purpose.

History (103H) “The long-lasting conflict between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.”

This artifact is a project I made for history class that allowed me to explore a historical conflict deeply rooted in culture, politics, and identity. Because I am from the Dominican Republic, researching the long-standing tension between Haiti and the Dominican Republic required me to avoid bias while examining multiple perspectives and social dynamics between the two nations. Throughout this assignment I learned to analyze primary and secondary sources and connect historical events to modern-day implications. It strengthens my understanding of how history influences a nation’s identity.

WCS Writing Around the World (312W) – Collected Data Paper and Slides “The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health.”

This artifact comes from one of my favorite classes, Writing Around the World. I really enjoyed this course because it allowed me to explore how writing and communication look different across cultures and contexts. For this project, I collected data from different age groups to understand their perspectives on social media use and how they believed it affected mental health. Doing this research helped me see how personal experiences, generational differences, and digital habits shape the way people think about online spaces. It was meaningful to analyze real responses and turn them into a project that connected research with real‑world issues I care about.
