After reading the sample data breach notification letter, I believe the two related economic theories are Marxian and Keynesian. As learned in class, Marxian economic theory is mainly used by those in power to exploit those without power. As mentioned in class, the Keynesian economic theory believes that the “government should not intervene in the economy except to protect individuals’ inalienable rights”.  I think the letter’s connections indicate that the company chose to wait before notifying customers, suggesting that the organization is using its power to protect its own interests rather than informing customers as soon as possible. As for Keynesian, the letter explains why government intervention is needed. The two psychological social sciences theories that I believe are related to the letter are personality and cognitive. For example, the customer’s reaction will be based on their personality trait, and the letter explains why the breach notification was delayed, helping reduce confusion and aligning with the cognitive theory.
