This course introduces the foundational concepts of cybersecurity and the protection of digital systems, networks, and data. CYSE 200T focuses on the technical and practical skills needed to understand cyber threats, defend information systems, and apply security principles in real-world environments. Students learn how cybersecurity supports organizations, individuals, and critical infrastructure.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, I will be able to:
- Identify common cybersecurity threats such as malware, phishing, ransomware, and social engineering.
- Explain the basic principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability in information security.
- Understand how networks, operating systems, and devices can be secured against attacks.
- Recognize the importance of risk management, policies, and security awareness.
