Course: CYSE 201S – Cybersecurity and the Social Sciences

Technology has made life more convenient, but it has also increased the need for cybersecurity awareness. Many people use the internet every day for banking, shopping, communication, and entertainment. Without basic cybersecurity knowledge, users may expose themselves to scams, data theft, and privacy risks.

One of the most common threats is phishing. Phishing scams attempt to trick people into revealing passwords or financial information by pretending to be trusted organizations. These attacks are successful when users fail to recognize warning signs such as suspicious links or urgent requests.

Cybersecurity awareness is important for both individuals and businesses. Learning safe online habits, creating strong passwords, and keeping software updated can reduce many common risks. In today’s digital world, cybersecurity knowledge is an essential life skill.
