SPAN 201

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

Exploring Culture

I learned so much about culture in this class. From the discussion boards to the project example videos, I learned all about it.

Without learning about the culture I do not think I would be having an enjoyable learning experience. It really helped to connect me to the language. Learning about the culture was fun and made it easier to learn.

Engaging in Communities

Learning not just from teachers but from others is important. I learned so many things from other people this semester.

In my talkabroad I even learned about the troubles one of my partners was having in her country.

Interpersonal Communication

I had so much fun with my partners in TalkAbroad this semester. Both of them were very accomadating. They helped me when I started to struggle.

I honestly probably could have done better this semester. I did struggle a bit with keeping the flow of conversation. However, the conversations I did hold were very good and entertaining ones.

Presentational Speaking

For each of my projects, I had to create a presentation on Puerto Rico.

I struggled a bit with conjugation and the flow of my words. Also stopping was frequent in this presentation.

Presentational Writing

I worked on so many discussion boards this semester. As well as so many projects. One project had me present an outfit for doing something.

The project where I had to present an outfit was very fun. It was open to basically anything so I got to put whatever clothes I liked. Between speaking and writing, I am much better at the latter.

Interpretive Listening

Some of my favorite things this year was the conversations with my partner. We had different conversations each week for our class. The best one was when we each made a story up and then presented them together.

Listening to another student speak in Spanish was enlightening. It gave me room to realize that we’re all still learning. I know it was hard for my partner to understand me sometimes but I’m glad we were able to understand each other at all.
