Have you ever played any type of video game and made it to a high level, just to lose that level and have to start all the way from the beginning? Yup, me too and it absolutely sucks. This happens way too often in life, and I must say it’s actually tiring. Why can’t things stay consistent? What can I do to help it stay consistent?
There are five ways that you can maintain a fresh start, according to Psychology Today:
- Manage your regrets
- Failure is inevitable
- Regret can either allow you to sink or swim
- Sink: will bring you down during your time of need.
- Swim: will be able to help you shape your decision making about your future.
- Deal with your ruminations
- Do not try to push your problems off. It is better to deal with whatever you may be going through, because the more you tell yourself not to think about those thoughts, the more those thoughts will overwhelm you.
- Do not isolate yourself, that makes rumination worse.
- Get active, join a club, surround yourself with friends or family.
- Think about your new goal in abstract terms
- Actually understanding the deeper meaning as to why you want these goals to become reality. Understanding your wants and needs will help you better understand why you want to achieve these goals.
- Adopt the right mind-set
- Open-ended mindset, planning and thinking about your goal is completely different from actually completing and obtaining your goal. “How you think” is very important in this stage.
- Motivate yourself
