Registration is fast approaching! Use the tips below to prepare for the spring term.
- Know your time ticket. Your time ticket lets you know what day and time you can start registering for classes. Pre-registration will be from the 4th to the 8th of November. Log into the University Portal and scroll to the bottom of My Schedule to view your time ticket.
- Consider the withdrawal deadline. The last day to withdraw from fall semester courses is November 5th. Do you need to withdraw? Many students withdraw from a course when they are not academically strong in a class and do not want a less than satisfactory grade to impact their GPA.
- See your financial aid counselor. Schedule an appointment with your financial aid counselor to see if withdrawing from a course would impact your financial aid. An appointment can also be used to refresh you on the criteria required to maintain your financial aid and ODU scholarships.
- See your academic advisor. Your academic advisor will let you know how withdrawing will impact your 4-year plan and assist you with planning for your spring and/or summer courses.
- Use RateMyProfessors. This is a good resource to use when registering for classes. See how previous students fared in certain courses with certain professors. You will get an idea of what to expect and how to succeed in your courses!
- Consider your time management skills. Will you really be able to wake up for an 8am class? If not, it is best not to register for one. Also consider how spaced out you want your classes. Do you want to have classes back-to-back or with some gaps in-between for studying?
