Being a first generation student the holiday season is a beautiful time because you get to go back to your family and socialize with your close friends. Family is all about giving back and enjoying the situation and opportunity that you have. Sometimes we find ourselves neglecting family because we are accustom to being so independent in college. I find my self going back to my room and locking the door and not engaging with my family because they are not like my college friends that I grown so close to. However we cant deny the fact the family is what made us who we are today. We have to comeback to our family with open arms to let them know we are here for them regardless the circumstances.
To be a first generation student engaging with your family is what you should pride yourself upon they provide your support when you do come back home for breaks. Family makes you remember your character and how do you manage your life. Family is something that must be celebrated regardless of the situations because that is all you have. For this holiday enjoy the food,family and friends before its too late.
