Advice to my Freshman Self

If I could go back and tell myself one thing before freshman year started it would be to take life slow and to enjoy every single minute of it. Little did I know my freshman year would be cut short and I would have to move out early and have to deal with online classes during a pandemic. During my first semester of regular college precovid, I had so much fun, made so many new friends, and even began a new job! All of the things that you’d want in a college career, until covid took most of that away during my spring semester. If I hadn’t enjoyed each and every day the first semester then I would have had an even harder time adjusting to online format classes and zoom calls with friends. I am not saying that I didn’t enjoy every minute of my freshman year but I definitely could have done more things while I had the time to! That is my advice to you now Monarchs, enjoy every minute you get because you never know when it will all change again.

A final piece of advice to other freshmen out there is to step outside of your comfort zone! See what the world has to offer you and what you can do for the world. Maybe you are standing in line at Broderick Dining Commons to your future best friend but you wouldn’t know it unless you stepped out of your comfort zone and asked to sit next to them! This world is full of endless possibilities and one day you will be able to look back on all the opportunities that came your way, more likely than not you had to step outside your comfort zone to reach them!
