How do I contact my advisor?

You may wonder, what is an advisor? An advisor is someone who helps provide advice for any academic support. They help you develop a game plan for your academic goals such as picking the correct class for your specific major, what you can do to excel in school, helping you see your specific academic interests, give you academic advice, and additional resources. They are there for you when you have any questions or concerns about your academics.

Why is it important to contact them? It is important to communicate with your advisor regularly. They can assist you with being on track to academic success. They can offer strategies on how specifically you can achieve your goals with academics. They can help you understand the requirements for your intended major and what classes you need to take to complete your major.

How do I get in contact with my advisor? If you’re not sure how to contact them you can go to your MyOdu portal and scroll down to “My Programs” on the right-hand side. There will be information about your advisors such as their name, email, phone number, and location. The best way to contact them is through email. Give them at least three days to respond. If they haven’t responded, try contacting advisor@odu.edu
