What is social distancing? According to Merriam Webster, it is “the practice of maintaining a greater than usual physical distance from other people or of avoiding direct contact with people or objects in public places during the outbreak of a contagious disease in order to minimize exposure and reduce the transmission of infection.”
This means to use caution when: going to the store, picking up medication, and allowing visitors in your home. AVOID: sleepovers, movie theaters, crowded malls, and any other non-essential gatherings and travels.
To enforce and promote this new practice, there is a transition to online-based learning and a 10-person limit to gatherings in Virginia.
While schools and universities are figuring out how to provide online classes… Here are some free (subscription-free, only Internet access required) FaceTime alternatives to stay in touch with your family and friends: Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Skype, and Viber.
